Warriors Return to Winning Ways with Commanding 42-6 Victory Over Titans

The New Zealand Warriors have emphatically returned to the winners' circle, producing a commanding 42-6 victory over the Gold Coast Titans at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Looking to respond after last week's defeat to the Bulldogs, the Warriors delivered one of their most complete performances of the season, dominating both possession and territory while running in seven tries to one.

The visitors struck first in the seventh minute when Dallin Watene-Zelezniak finished off a slick backline movement to open the scoring. Just four minutes later, former Titan Alofiana Khan-Pereira crossed in the left corner against his old club after a well-worked attacking raid, giving the Warriors early control of the contest.

The Warriors continued to apply pressure and extended their lead in the 17th minute when Khan-Pereira burst through the defensive line before sending Chanel Harris-Tavita away to score beneath the posts.

Gold Coast found a brief response midway through the first half through Arama Hau, whose close-range try, converted by Jayden Campbell, narrowed the margin to 14-6.

However, any hopes of a Titans comeback were quickly extinguished.

The Warriors regained complete control through Leka Halasima, who capitalised on a perfectly weighted cross-field kick, before Jacob Laban powered through the defence just before halftime to give the visitors a commanding 26-6 lead at the break.

The second half was all New Zealand.

Strong carries through the middle laid the platform before Eddie Ieremia-Toeava crashed over beside the posts early in the half.

Experienced playmaker Te Maire Martin then stole the spotlight, producing two outstanding individual tries. On both occasions, Martin sold convincing dummies that opened the Titans' defensive line before he sliced through untouched to score.

The Titans' afternoon became even more difficult in the 56th minute when AJ Brimson was sent to the sin bin for a professional foul after illegally preventing a Warriors attacking opportunity.

The Warriors capitalised on the extra man, maintaining relentless pressure while their defensive effort denied the Titans any opportunity to build momentum. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Erin Clark and Wayde Egan were instrumental in controlling the tempo, while the forward pack consistently won the battle through the middle.

The comprehensive victory sees the Warriors bounce back in impressive fashion as they now turn their attention to a blockbuster Round 23 clash against the ladder-leading Penrith Panthers.
